These are for Week Three of Academy Class: Introduction to Layout Design. For this lesson we were asked to create two different LO using a monochromatic color scheme, one with a cool color, the other with warm color. This was alot harder to do than I thought it would be...I kept wanting to put other colors in it and as it was I was picking up some other colors when I was recoloring the papers I used. Some of the papers take on a gray tone...but there is purple in them, they really aren't true gray . My photo I used a technique that Stacey has on her Blog page of smudging, while I didn't do a great job of "smudging" I liked the look it gave the pic. I also did not add any journaling, wasn't sure where or actually what to journal about other than my DBF took this picture of me, and I have no ideal what I was thinking about, cause I look like I wasn't
even there...LOL!!! I chose Purple & B&W pic for my cool Scheme and went right across the color wheel to the warm and chose yellow & Sepia pic for my warm scheme...I like the cool scheme and I think it tells a better story (Possibly because the color is more intense...hmmmm). I ended up doing alot of colorizing for these two LO's to acheive the agenda for this lesson.

I really love the LO, totally. I love the intensity of the purple, but I get the feeling of more deep thought with this one, and it picks up a little more warmness from the color of the photo. Both are good, but each one give me a different feeling. You did a good job smudging actually, I do love smudging, it's great to get rid of backgrounds you don't really like. I haven't looked at Stacey's instructions, I like blurring too, swirling a little. This is actually a really really cool layout. BOTH of them.

As I said on the other layout, I am not going to pick one because I like them both. I agree with Maria, I feel like this one has a more pensive feel to it. So great job on both of them.

Well, just to confuse things, my favorite color is yellow and I like this layout better! I have never done smudging - will have to check out her blog!

This LO is wonderful - the warm colour scheme really gives a musing, gentler type of thought feeling rather than intense - great LO both of them.

This one is wonderful too! I think the purple does reflect your theme better, but both are lovely designs. I wonder if you reduce the sepia tones in this photo if it will give it a bit more 'pop' against the background.
