Can I just tell you how MUCH I loved this challenge? I spent more time on it than any challenge I've ever done, but I'm just in love with the finished result. I changed out papers, frames, elements, at least a dozen times to get it to look the way I saw it in my head. But I just love it. Favorite layout yet!

jounaling:
I was very close to my maternal grandmother. She lived close to us when I was little and often had Sunday dinner at her house. My sister and I had sleepovers at her house from time to time as well. When my family moved to California, my grandmother let me live with her while I finished my senior year of high school. I have very fond memories of that year living with her. She was an amazing cook and I learned how to make some of my favorite meals that year. I have memories of laying on the couch, with my head on her lap after dinner, while she gently stroked my hair.

She passed away suddenly about 8 years later and I was devastated. My mother gave me my grandmother’s engagement ring several years after that. I wore it on my right hand for years. It made me feel closer to her. When my husband proposed, I knew I wanted to wear my grandmother’s engagement ring, so he transferred it to my left hand and then had a wedding band made to match.

When I look at my ring, I not only feel my husband’s love and devotion for me , but can almost see my grandmother’s Irish eyes, shining down from above as well.
