So, here was my random thought this morning. I just LOVE the way my dogs run for absolutely no reason but for the joy of being able to do so!
I've got two dogs; a 12 year old golden retriever named Millie and her 11/2 year old son Tramp (a golden/black lab mix who is all black lab in looks with a golden heart!) Every morning I take them out on their leashes and when we get to an open field I'll let them off so that they can run around. When I see them race ahead and romp through the grass it just lifts my spirits. They aren't burdened by the prospect of the day and a long list of to-do's that need to be completed. They don't carry any anxiety about money or domain names or looming deadlines. They don't fret about politics or the national debt. They have no care about how their kids are doing in school, the choices they are making, or the influence of questionable friends. They simply ARE; living in the moment, running free, exuding joy!! Honestly, it never fails to lighten my heart and reminds me not to overlook those little things that give you "joy in the moment." So....how about you? Do you have any pets? What are they? How do they enrich your life?

Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?...Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet...even Solomon in all his glory did not clothe himself like one of these.... Matthew 6:26ff
I'm convinced that children and animals are here (for one thing) to teach us many life-lessons. I've had the same feelings about my pets in the past, Debb, but for this current season of our lives (when we must travel so much), we are without pets. I miss that unconditional love, and that joie de vrie animals bring. My friends' pets get smothered in hugs from me. >^..^< |

No pets here...but we carry dog bones with us when we camp and then we adopt one for the weekend
. Marc is a lab lover, and would love to have one but in an apt it just wouldn't be fair to them or our neighbors. I love this picture of Marc so I had to share it here. it is an old dog that came and sat by Marc as they watched a young irish setter romp in the waves. Marc said him and that old dog had an understanding...they were once that young and loved to romp in the waves, but now were content to sit and watch the youngesters do it!!!

Ohhhhh, I love that photo!! This: "Marc said him and that old dog had an understanding...they were once that young and loved to romp in the waves, but now were content to sit and watch the youngsters do it!!!" is part of what makes dogs so special. Somehow or other they help us see life in ways that ground us and make things real-but always in ways that make us smile at the humor that can be found in life.

We have two cats, Charlie and KC, brother and sister and the two best cats ever. Right now one or both of them is sleeping at Alannah's feet. If I were to stay at the computer right now, Charlie would amble by and jump on my desk and lay across my hands while they were on the keyboard.
Charlie is so black and sleek that his fur shimmers blue. He's exquisite. KC puts the "fat" in "fat cat." When we adopted her and brought her home she was 2.5 years old and I thought she was going to have kittens within the hour. She's that fat. Her fur is not sleek like her brother's and she's very skittish, although I have woken up with a terrible ache in my back to find that she's been sleeping on my hip. Both of them have 6 toes! We love these cats. Love them.

Oooh, we just got a new kitty right before Christmas. In January we lost our cat of 10 years to cancer, so after several months, we decided it was time to move on.
Our new kitty is named Holly Belle (since we got her right before Christmas). Here she is: ![]() I live with chronic back pain, and I can't tell how much comfort she's brought me in the past month and a half. She's so sweet and cuddly, and she really brings me peace. Animals are so amazing! |

oh, she is beautiful Cheryl! I just can't imagine not living with animals. When I was growing up we always had a couple of dogs, at least one cat and often the various "rodent-type" pets (hamsters, guinea pig, rabbit). The dogs were always "mine" and every cat we had from the time I was 4 and first saw the Disney movie until I moved away to college was named "Tomasina."
![]() ![]() ![]() (Even the boy cats, although we would shorten it to Thomas to preserve their dignity! ![]() ![]() ) My brothers were always partial to the "rodents" ![]() ![]() Here are a couple of photos I took yesterday while I was on our walk. This is my sweet momma-bear Millie (her little face just keeps getting whiter and whiter): ![]() And here is her handsome son, Tramp: ![]() He looks kinda "regal" in this shot don't you think? Don't let the photo fool you though...he is such a clown!! ![]() ![]()
