Default Color Overlay Challenge

In the November issue of the Artisan Notebook we share tutorials on converting color photos to black and white and utilizing the color overlay washes that come with the November Guild kit.

Our challenge to you is to use the inspiration of these tutorials to create your own color wash layouts. Post your layouts in the Artisan Notebook challenge gallery and link them back to this thread. Your layout may be featured in the Artisan Notebook's Notebook Notes blog.

To make things even MORE fun we are giving away a FREE GIFT to everyone who participates in this challenge*. Dee Bee Designs used Chrissy W's templates and the November Guild kit to create this darling set of Ready Made Pages (tm).

For detailed information about Guild kit layouts be sure and check out the November issue of the Artisan Notebook (tm). If you are not a member or do not have a subscription to the magazine purchase information may be found HERE.

*This gift is also available for those who participate in the November "Stretch a Sketch" challenge.

I love this kit. My lo is a tribute to my husband who I am very blessed to have. I used the oil painting technique on the embellishments to really make them pop, and blend. The older pic I had to clean up, and scan. It had started to yellow. I lightened the overlay quite a bit so to just give a slight pink tint. I used it on only the bottom of the photo. The poem I wrote to my husband. The photo of us young was taken at The Muscular Dystrophy camp in 1978 where we met. He went there to help out. I was glad to have saved it. My editing software is very basic. I just ordered element 8, and can hardly wait to try it out.

HERE is my first try at the overlay challenge. Such a beautiful kit, and I love how the subtle colors of the overlays make the B&W photos blend so well.

HERE is another version, using the overlay on top of a colored photo for the purpose of toning it down for contrast.

Journaling: All through the autumn the photographer seeks out leaves of crimson, orange and yellow. Then the mother sees the true beauty of autumn playing in a pile of brown leaves.

Hi lmjrocko,
To display your page in the Forum thread, just go to the page with your layout, right click and click on Copy Image Location. Then come back to the thread, choose Post Reply, then when you get the edit box simply click on the Insert Picture icon (that little mountain) and Paste. That's it...

Jan: GASP!

And PS: Thank you for the lesson on how to add the photo directly. I've never known how that was done. But then I haven't been around long....only 2 years into digi-scrapping. HEHEHE
