Default Well, You Could See This Coming!!

It has been raining steadily since about midnight last night. Our parched, burned-up landscape is finally getting rain!! Of course that rain is falling on now barren hillsides with no vegetation to hold back the mud! They just issued flash-flood warnings for the entire Poomacha and Rice Fire areas (those were the two fires that threatened our home and took out many of our friends' homes.)

It looks like it is going to be a long weekend filling sandbags and helping neighbors shore up property. (I think our home will be okay although my hubby's office has had a tendency to flood in the past...I'm hoping the French drains, and extra sealants we put around the building a few years ago will work.)

Southern California just can't seem to catch a break these days. I think it must be God's way of keeping us humble. Just to make sure we don't get too cocky about our gorgeous weather, beaches and the like He throws in firestorms, mud-slides and the occasional earthquake. Well.....at least it keeps things exciting, yes?

Default OMGosh Deb,

Wow, what's that saying "it never rains, but it pours". My goodness the environmental things you are dealing with are a little much I'd say. Here in Canada, my toes are frozen as I sit at the computer as a light snowfall cascades downwards outside, it's freezing and calling for intermittent snow squalls. Hope the sandbags are not required.....

Oh, Debb, so sorry to hear this! I was thinking about you when I heard about the most recent fires, hoping they were nowhere near you this time. Hope the rain slows down and things become boring for you! You have had way too much excitement there this past month! Here in the northeast, we are expecting our first taste of winter weather this weekend, nothing major, just a little bit of snow/sleet/freezing rain to get us used to the idea that winter is on its way...

Yeah - who was bragging about her weather and beaches earlier this year???

Seriously - I hope that you and your neighbors survive this without any problems.

Yep, Debb, I agree, you could use a break now! I hope all calms down for Christmas - Christmas has enough stress without the weather not cooperating!

Debb - I am so sorry! But you all should get a beautiful crop of spring flowers. Rain does smell so good though so that will be cool while filling all those sandbags. Good luck!

Earthquake, that's why I don't want to live on te west coast. I had enough earthquake for my life time in Japan.
