Yeah, she's still itty bitty, but growing every day . . . is your tuxedo cat very affectionate? Ours is ridiculously so . . . and I love it!!!!

KC loves being brushed, but she's very skittish. She'll sleep on me if I let her (I don't). Now her brother is the affectionate one, even around strangers. He jumps on my mom's lap and keeps her cozy, which is funny because she was raised on a farm where cats were never allowed in the house.

Here's KC up close:

And here she is, proving my words about her being a fat cat:

And here you can see her extra toe:

I'll try to take a photo or two of our sweet Charlie.

We have a six year old beagle and two kittens that are about five months old (I think; I'm not really sure. )

Our oldest has been asking for an "American Domestic Shorthair" cat ever since we watched "Cats 101" together. DH thought it was cute that he was so specific, and a couple of months later we "happened" to stop at the local shelter "just to see what they have". Turns out DH already knew what they had -- he'd been on their website earlier in the week! However, the kittens he wanted were being adopted just as we got there -- which didn't stop us from ending up with two anyway! We call them Max and Ruby. (Ruby and Max!)

Ruby is always looking for a lap to sit in and Max is always looking for something to chase. They are both purr monsters and the kids adore them!

We got Bandit when DS was less than a year old, and even as a puppy he has always been really good with the kids -- maybe too much, since they are usually at the right height for him to sniff their faces, which tickles and makes them giggle. He will sit on me and try to push me over if I'm on the floor, but he has never been at all aggressive towards the kids, even when they were infants. They are a little afraid of him, because DH plays rough and they are afraid he will be like that with them, but he (Bandit) doesn't even try and has always been gentle with them.

Only my youngest seems to be willing to play with him. The oldest is starting to see that the beagle is not so scary, now that he is taller than him, but he is like his dad and is more a cat person than a dog one.

Since I've already written a book, I might as well add that we have a tank full of goldfish too. We bought them for the pond two summers ago; DH brought them inside for winter and never put them back!

MAX AND RUBY! How fun!! We have brother and sister cats, too, but we adopted them when they were 2.5 years old. We love these cats!

They're aren't brother and sister, but the girl is older and more "ladylike" and the boy is younger and more playful. I thought it was appropriate and no one else in the family had a better suggestion.

It's fun to tell people their names are Max and Ruby -- people with little kids recognize them and everyone else is just, "Oh, those are nice names," while they secretly wonder why we named a solid gray kitten Ruby.

Somehow or other they help us see life in ways that ground us and make things real-but always in ways that make us smile at the humor that can be found in life.

Where was the photo taken?
At Pacific Beach in Washington. Our favorite place to watch high tide

Such sweet pets everyone has!!!

Marc and I were just talking, since it wouldn't be fair to have a dog in the house and he really is a dog person, that we should get one of those realistic statues that look like a real pet and put it right by his hair so that he can reach over and pet it while it lays at his side ...LOL!!! might have to look into it for his birthday in April!!!
