I might be MIA for awhile......in the last couple of hours my computer has started acting SICK! It takes forever to download even a tiny file (and we're at about 1000kb download speed)...and then it can't seem to handle unzipping without having a major melt-down. Also it's making a rythymic clicking sound while it's stalling out. Christopher thinks it might be my hard drive. :(

And I haven't backed up ANYTHING since coming home last month.
So guess what I'm going to be doing???

Hmmm...you think those over 100 layer layouts I made wore the old thing out??? I sure hope it'll still burn back up copies for me!

Wondering...how many hard drives...how many external drives...how many DVDs we're all going to need to back up our files! Linda, hope you get to save those 100+ layouts!

Ouch!!! I lost a laptop last year to hard drive failure and it had been months... fortunately I had almost all of my photos and scrapping stuff on a EHD. I now have an online backup as well as my EHD and I need to back up to a second EHD - JUST IN CASE!!!

Breathing half a sigh of relief........I have my new layout files backed up (all the DSAG ones).....I need to check on where I got to in my other files since my last back-up.
And then I've got to burn copies of all my new kit files...ohhh...I'd so rather be scrapping but this is important!

So in light of this head's up warning...I'm issuing a CHALLENGE to each of you to BACK UP YOUR FILES!!!

Should we start a new thread and post to it, say once a month that we've done our back-ups???
Can someone be in charge of passing out the gold stars?? :D

I'm using www.titanize.com. It's a little more expensive, but you have access to the actual files (not just a backup file) and can access them from any computer or can send them - so basically you can use it like a Photobucket or USendIt account.

There are some other ones that I have heard good things about that appear to be strictly online backup services - the one I have heard the most about is www.mozy.com.

Hope your puter doesnt die on you. Hate when that happens. Bought a 200mg external hard drive to put my things on. Realize that probably that isnt to safe either cause it can go bad and then lose everything.

Just wish I knew how to do a automatic back up thing every so often. Someone once told me that you can buy a cd that will backup certain folders or whole hard drive as often as you schedule it but cant rember the name.

OK -- my computer was acting crazy this morning- mainly internet issues-

Do you see a conspiracy here?

;)

YEs Linda-- that was on my list to do a BACKUP challenge!

I was getting the dreaded Page Not Found this morning when trying to get into the DSAG website - how scary is that!?!?!?!

Good luck Linda! I want to recommend Carbonite to everyone. It backs up everything automatically - so if anything happens to your pc then you just go online and download your files. It has taken me a month to back up only 50% of my files! :p I have so many! But the good news is that the storage is unlimited. It will not back up an ehd or your programs- but everything else for 50 dollars a year. Peace of mind. You can do it yourself to dvd's and an EHD which I do routinely- but in case a hard drive failed- can you imagine the nightmare of pulling out all those dvd's and re organizing everything? This way it stays organized too. Or if you had a fire- you are still secure in replacing it all. Just a thought- no affiliation- but if you mention my name I think I get an extra month or something. hugs! :)
