Anybody have any idea why this tool isn't working for me? Very frustrating...
Have had this happen to me before. I had to actually shut it down and reboot.

Rebooting doesn't help. That tool just isn't working for me. All the rest of the tools seem to be working just fine.

It is possible that it just doesn't work. It seems to happen with PSP ... for me it was always the warp brush in PSP 9 - it just wouldn't work.
However, before we conclude that lets just make sure you don't have some odd setting that messes everything up:
1) Has it never worked or is this a recent thing?
2) click on the flood fill tool click the first button (presets) and then click the arrow (reset to default). Then shut it down and start it up. If it's still not working
3) Make sure you have something in foreground or background and that your opacity isn't 0
4) your blend mode is set to normal in the flood fill tool
5) no texture or pattern is selected ... just try it with a solid color for a start. Right click and left
6) that your selection isn't accidently selected as inverse. Sometimes that can happen and you click on the inside of something and nothing happens ... while it would work if you either changed your selection or clicked on the outside of it with the flood tool.
7) a swift kick won't fix the tool but can be very satisfying ;)

Perhaps the settings got wonked?
What is your MATCH MODE setting? Mine is set at NORMAL
Your TOLERANCE setting? Mine is GRAYED OUT
Is the USE ALL LAYERS box checked or unchecked? Mine is UNCHECKED
What is your BLEND MODE setting? Mine is NORMAL
What is your OPACITY setting? Mine is 100%

Thank you, thank you, thank you! It was my match mode. I don't have a "normal" setting. It was set to "all opaque", but when I changed it to None, or RGB, it works fine. Woohoo!!! :D (Now, where is that happy dance smilie!?)

Woohooo! Now can we fix my "restore erased pixel" function (right clicking over erased area restores whatever was previously deleted). I use that SO much but I just can't get it to work in this version! I just upgraded to XI and that tool is NOT working! I contacted Corel but no answer in 2 days even though they were supposed to get back to me in 24 hrs ....
Since it's a brand new instal it's probably not a settings problem either .... :(

Birgit - funny I just discovered this feature in the last couple of weeks. And I was getting ready to install XI, so I may wait on that. I have it d/l'ed, just not installed.
And I want to hear about the target brush feature. Maybe we need a PSP tips and tricks thread.

Hmmm - I didn't know about restore erased pixel. I'll have to check that one out. I agree, a PSP tips thread would be a good idea. Even after nearly two years using PSP, I still only know the basics!
And Birgit, see your suggestion #7. It might make you feel much better! :D

I was planning on doing a "change to target tool" chat . It'll only be for PSPers since that's a very PSP specific tool, but it's one of my favorite for scrapping, so it may come in handy for all he PSPers out there that don't know about it yet.

hey Birgit,
I'm also a PSPer and would love to come along to a change to target tool chat... if time difference is too wonky then a chat transcript would be great.
Glad everyone else has same issues with PSp dont you love and hate it...
I love it but must admit I got XI and was so frustrated with it I have gone back to 9. I need to spend at least a few whole days !!!! familiarising myself more with Xi.
