Okay...who can help me?

Chris and I are beyond stressed out. To the point where we HAVE to get away, or we may explode. Everything in our lives is suffering...even physical side effects--I was even in tears nearly the whole day of my birthday on Saturday. We need to get away. Desperately.

Here's the deal. I just can't figure out where I want to go. I want to go somewhere where I won't have to do anything, or feel guilty about not going out of the room if I don't feel like it. I want to go somewhere where I can enjoy my husband...it'd be nice to have a spa in the room. Chris doesn't want to drive hours and hours. So anyone know any good places in the Northern California area? We're hoping for somewhere around $100 a night...but with the right amenities, I'm almost willing to pay more. We were thinking Tahoe, but the place we like to stay has their spa rooms booked up (Avalon Lodge)...so we'd need to find a new place.

If you have ideas, let me know...I'd be forever greatful. We're hoping to get away as early as the 2nd-4th...but our anniversary is the 19th of June, so we're also considering one of the weekends around that date too.

Oh yeah...we live near Sacramento...so places like Napa, Tahoe, San Fran, etc are all in. Places like Vegas or So. Cal are out.

I wish I knew places in California better to help you out, Kara. I know what you mean about the absolute NEED to get away. We ALL have that occasionally, I think. To recharge physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Don't think this is exactly what you were thinking, BUT, one time on a road trip through Cali, the guy I was dating at the time and I decided only to camp out on our trip if at all possible. There were a couple of places in state parks overlooking the ocean right off of the Pacific Coast Hwy that had campgrounds with AWESOME views. It was only about $30 a night, VERY relaxing - especially with the sound of the surf in the background- and there was no pressure to even get out of our tent. We'd throw sweats on and go sit by the ocean at both sunrise and sunset. SO nice and romantic.

Definitely not a spa or cushy comforts of home. BUT, inexpensive and food for the soul. Not to mention that it'll be just the two of you with no distractions to pull you away from one another. Just make sure to get a sleeping bag for two, a couple of beach chairs, and a basket of fruit, cheeses, and artisan breads.

Good luck on whatever getaway you decide on!!

Oh I just loved Lake Tahoe when I was younger (went when I was 16) but we camped there while my brother had some super huge figure skating thing so we didn't get a whole lot of time to just hang out either. I just remember how beautiful it was! Just sharing my opinion of it! Since that's the only place I remember there and haven't been back since! From MI to CA was a LONG drive with 2 younger brothers LOL!

I will pray that you find just the right thing for you two!-

The sound of the ocean is quite relaxing to me..........

I've heard of some resorts that you pay one fee and everything is included.

Breathe deeply!

You know Christie, we've been talking about camping this summer...but I didn't even think about that for our getaway. I'll have to talk to Chris and see what he thinks...but you are so right, that can be very relaxing...

thanks ladies for all your support and prayers! Any other ideas to consider?

I am so sorry to hear this about you guys but I think a get away is in order!!! Every couple needs that for sure. I hope you find something great, but I have no clue as I'm from the southeast and haven't ever been over on that side of the country. Our vacations are always in the carribean, but if flying is out of the question I can't really help. HUGS!!

Dear Kara, I'm sorry I missed your birthday!!!! happy birthday!!! :o
I love Las Vegas, I went there twice, and it's a dream came true...LOL
You can go to those amazing hotels and not leave the room if you don't feel like it (you have those great buffets, and you can have room service, too) if you can't sleep then don't...people there never sleep!!! LOL...and you can also go out every night and have fun!!! (shows, games, shopping, helicopter flights to go to the Grand Canyon, you can be silly, etc.);)
For me, it's the best place to charge batteries and just enjoy!!! ;)
Hugs & kisses, friend :D

Ya know, once I went on this mystry choir tour w/ my youth choir. We had no idea where we were going (well the adults knew) and it was the best trip ever b/c we just enjoyed the trip....

I've alwasy wanted to just 'drive' for like a certian amount of time and just end up somewhere, and then come home

I went to San Francisco with my husband on one of his business trips three years ago and the place we stayed at was amazing. It's considerably more than $100 a night, but I think they have package deals that may help out. Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa (http://www.woodsidehotels.com/lafayette/index.html). I would love to go back sometime!
