ok

So what's the deal w/ 200 vs 300
AND 12x12 vs 8x8

Right now i'm doing 12x12 at 300
and i can tell my adobe is running slower.


and if you print 8x8 do you loose some of the detail in your picture size?
or is it just perfect?

i agree i do my layouts at 12 x12 and i print at 8x8 through my printers settings and i loose nothing maybe i have a good printer i don't know :rolleyes:

Steph I do LO in 12 x 12 and print at 8 x 8 and lose nothing! I have never been able to print out larger here in NZ so cant compare to a 12 x 12 but I love the size. I print on matte photo paper.

as to the whole 200 v 300 I only do it in 300 cause all the files seem to be in 300 and I dont have to resize but it does slow things down a smidgin...
I just need to get a bigger n better puter but DH wont buy that I REALLY, REALLY need it, he thinks that Im just push it.(he knows me soooooooo well)

Going from 200 to 300 pixels increases your files by over a third. And that tends to slow things down quite a bit. There is some discussion, especially among photographers as to how many ppi you need to get a really good print and 300 ppi is the consensus. But since many printers only print at about 180 ppi (not dpi - that's a whole other subject), 200 is sufficient to get a quality print. I have printed as large as 12x18 at 200 ppi and my prints have come out well.

So you just do your page in 200? and then print in 8x8. I know it's cheaper that way...hummm

I do them in 200 and haven't printed any lately, but if I print at home they have to be 8x8 or 8.5x11 at the largest. I may try some of the online printers for 12x12 - but frankly, those albums are almost too large - I like the size of an 8x8 album.

Ok, so now I've got to go get one of mh 8x8 albums and hold it....ha ha
I have noticed that 12x12 is to large, expensive and takes up space!

don't know about over there but 8x8 albums are very nice and you can get good quality ones really cheap

I scrap at 12x12 and so far have only printed 8x8, but recently got a wide format printer, so as soon as I get a 12x12 scrapbook, I may print some at 12x12. 200dpi or 300dpi just depends on the kit that I'm using. It's just easier to scrap at the same dpi as the kit.

And print 8 x 8~! Plenty big for me-

Tip-- I find when printing.........some items are MUCH larger than the seem on the computer--------I've learned to work on the scale of elements and font size........so it looks more normal when printed.

I prefer 12x12 and so do most customers. The 8x8 are fine and all but put alongside a 12x12 and they pop!!!

Plus I can add alot of jounraling on a 12x12 on an 8x8 forget it.

200 vs 300 i haven't seen much difference print wise. but 300 dpi besides being the industry standard gives more scrap space. Keeping up w/ my computer, not clogging it down w/ pics ect helps keep the speed relatively good. i find using PSE that if I have the pic organizer open it really slows everything down.
