So I've ALWAYS wanted to sew. And I have made the basics, you know, a pillow, etc...
So I got a machine of my own last mothers day, and did a lot of sweing in my scrapbooks up until i went digital. So My cousin and I are now taking a class, and I made a dress for Selah!!!
Well...I bought a bloomers pattern (cause they are not cheap to by or easy to find for under all of selah sdresses) and thought i could do it on my own
UM, NO. the directions are so vague. Mom got me started and left. Sheesh. And I'm a show me person anyway. So I'm sad because I couldn't get my bloomers made to match selahs dress i made that she is wearing tomorrow..guess I'll cut out some material and be ready for her to talk me through it on wednesday.
Maybe I should give up and just sew block together and make a blanket...Or soft books those are easy. :(

Ouch! I HATE seam rippers! But I love to sew- pattern directions are really not always easy to decipher, even after you have been sewing awhile. I would be happy to help if you post where you are having trouble, or PM me.

Ouch Rachel!
I always did a little sewing, not necessarily clothes, (tried that once and it looked really home made), but for my home (valances for windows, pillows, etc)....haven't used my machine in ages!
Good luck on getting the bloomers made, post a picture after your done, would love to see them....

Oh, this made me laugh. I was once an accomplished seamstress. Took tailoring, flat pattern design in class where I MADE the pattern, then created the garment. Eek! Then I took heirloom sewing and English smocking classes. But...Abigail's mother is not into heirloom sewing. And then..my other grandchild asked me if I could make some hospital scrubs his size. I am flipped...thinking I'd have to figure out sewing again! The computer took over my life! It's called "Passages of Life."

I love smocked dresses. For church
but they are sooo expensive. Looking for one on sale NOW for baby Zoe...maybe in a premee cause I have small babies...one to bring her home from the hospital in, and it will double as her first church dress...

I come from a long line of seamstresses Steph....my grandma actually 'grew up' on the floor of the shirt factory where her mom worked. Some of my fondest memories are spending weekends at my grams during the summer and sitting in her window seat learning how to sew buttons, embroiderer, knit, crochet, and smock. When my boys were little (and I could get away with it ;) ) I made all kinds of heirloom crafted outfits for them. Ahhh...for a little girl!! :p :D BUT...God knew what he was doing because if I was still doing all that sewing I WOULD NOT have time to scrap...so.....I'll wait to see if my boys give me any little granddaughters, until then I will just pull out our Guild inaugural kit and play with all those digital embroidery pieces. :)

I do allot of quilting...following in my Grandma's footsteps...! i love to sew but rarely have time anymore, except on one of those ocassions when my GD asks me to make Barbie Doll clothes for her. Patterns are, most times, not easy to follow...Wishing you the best of luck!

My mom and I made most of my clothes growing up - I did a lot of sewing in high school. But I lost patience for it after I graduated. I imagine I could still do something like bloomers though.
