stuck at 130 lbs - total loss for the year so far is 10 lbs. Mr. Wonderful says that my butt looks tight enough to be able to bounce a quarter off it but I am not letting him do that!!!
In terms of looks, I do look loads better and a lot of the parts that were going south are now almost back where they should be and i am quite sure this is because of doing water aerobics 3 times a week.
Glad to see everyone is still dropping the pounds.

Annette! That is wonderful!!! Its all about looking good and feeling good, not the numbers on the scale! I think you should let him bounce that quarter. lol ;)
nittans
08-22-2009, 11:35 AM
still not let him bounce the quarter but maybe one of these days.
Anyway still stuck at 130 and I would really like to lose another 20 lbs. Someone said that the lower the weight to start with the more difficult to lose it because you are dropping a higher percentage of total. Oh well - I shall stick to what I am doing and see what happens
Glad to see that some of you are still posting and losing weight too.

Annette - your body may be telling you something. Work on toning and overall fitness. Your body may need some time to adjust to the weight loss before it lets go of any more.

I feel so good about this. Also I have managed to resist buying any new clothes until such time as I am down to 110 lbs - I really don't want to buy anything that I will only wear for a few months.

Hey ladies, I just want to jump in here and say that I'm nowhere as accomplished as you all, but since I started my exercise routine this summer, I am down 5 lbs. :) Its a start :)
I am gaining endurance in my run, I'm up to 22 minutes today, and then I walked the rest of the way. But that is great compared to when I first started and could only run 5 minutes before I lost my breath.
I can't believe I used to run 4 or 5 miles 3 times a weel :) LOL...But I'm resigned to regain my health and fitness.
Thanks for letting me join!

Bek that's 22 minutes more than I can run. I did 20 minutes on the treadmill today and 5 minutes on the elliptical. I'll be glad when it's the other way around.
And I'm back down this week after last week's gain. I've lost a total of 36.8 pounds year to date.

Wow, I've been enjoying reading this thread...how wonderful for all of you. I'm trying now, via WW, to try and lose 10 lbs (in my stomach and waist). I've always weighed about 126 all my life and recently I was at 137! I've lost about 4.5 lbs so far in about a month. Not sure if that's good or not.
Nittans...gosh, let me know the secret to a "tight" butt...cause mine needs to get up there! LOL!
Sandersmr
09-08-2009, 04:18 PM
Yorkie - 4.5 lbs in a month, especially since you only have a little to lose, is fantastic!!!! I don't have to tell you that WW recommends a 0.5-2.0 pound per week loss. You are at about a 1 pound per week loss - right in the middle of WW's recommendation.
yorkiemom
09-08-2009, 04:40 PM
Wow, I had no clue...I just joined WW to see if I could lose the waist and gut. Course I'm always hungry now...but I guess that's to be expected. I'm so used to going out to lunch once a week and eating out on the weekends at least twice. And...I'm not drinking any wine right now...that's killing me since I love my wine! That's probably where lots of calories come from.
nittans
09-08-2009, 05:00 PM
comes from doing water aerobics 3 times a week! I basically do this for at least 3.5 hours a week in a class and have been doing it since April. I am thrilled with the results so far and I know that to maintain I will have to keep doing the classes.
Sandersmr
09-09-2009, 04:19 PM
Yorkie - you can plan your wine and eating out in - don't be afraid to use your 35 extra points or any APs you earn. They really should be used because the more you can eat while losing the more points you will be able to eat on Maintenance.
I eat out all the time and I have been known to have a drink or 3 when out with friends. I just plan for them and then the hard part - stick to the plan.
As far as being hungry, plan at least a couple of snacks in between meals. Make sure that you are getting a good mix of proteins, complex carbs (whole grains and such) and fiber-containing foods.

09-09-2009, 06:51 PM
Too bad I'm not a water person...guess I'll have to figure out another way to tighten that behind...LOL.
Sandersmr...thanks for the tips! I haven't even used those extra points yet! Guess I should indulge once and a while. Guess I'm trying to lose too fast. I do the sensible carbs (I hope) and fiber so I'm okay there.
Sandersmr
09-10-2009, 03:11 PM
Use your points. If you don't, your body will get used to not having them and then it begins to run more efficiently. This leads to you not being able to eat as much in the future. I try to use at least 1/2 of my WPA every week, if not more.

Today is 30th September and I started my quest for weight loss at the end of January. I was 140 lbs then.
Now I am weighing in at 123 lbs and am thrilled to bits.
My goal is to lose at least another 13 lbs and keep it all off. I know that it will be more difficult to keep it off but I will be making a valiant effort.
Also, I had some major dental surgery done last Thursday and solid food is definitely a challenge at the moment. But even though I am on a liquid/soft food regime at the moment I am not losing a huge amount of weight at the moment and am managing to keep my energy levels up. Cottage cheese has its advantages but definitely does not come close to a fine Brie!
Anyway I just wanted to pop in an update everyone and put a note of encouragement to all of you who are still moving towards your targets. Keep it up - everything comes to those who persevere.

Wow, that's awesome! You must be thrilled.
I know when I had dental work done I lost weight. All 4 wisdom teeth and lots of jello! LOL!
I started my diet Sept 1 and I've lost 6 lbs. A few more would be good. And I joined Shapes to do some weight exercise. My weight machine just isn't doing it for me.
Good luck to all...me who has never needed a diet in her life...now knows what everyone goes thru who wants to lose. I think the hard part will be keeping the weight off and not going back to bad habits.

I am totally thrilled. I do water aerobics three times a week at LA Fitness and am usually in the pool 20 minutes before the class to do some warming up and back stroke a few laps. Seems to help in stopping things going south!
It would be nice if i could do more in the gym but we are a one car family and often my husband needs it when I could be going to the gym. In any case, I do hope that i lose another 2 - 3 lbs while this round of dental surgery is recovering.
Good luck to all who are still striving to lose a few lbs.

definitely recommend water aerobics. I can't swim so stay within a reasonable depth in the pool and have been doing 3 classes a week since April and my husband says there is a really noticeable difference.
Water displaces at 63 lbs per cubic foot so you really do get a terrific workout in the water and it is low impact and total body!!!
If you can find a water class locally it is well worth it.

Hey, thanks for letting me know. We do have a pool and aerobic classes at Shapes but I can't take the chlorine smell in those confined areas..it bothers my sinuses. I'l have to forgo. But I do power walk every morning (2 miles) and I have an aerobic stepper that I did for several years. Might have to get into that again. They have an elliptical machine at the gym which I think will help a lot. I like doing that.
nittans
10-01-2009, 07:03 PM
you are on the right track.
The chlorine/chemical smell at the pool I use is not too bad which is why I keep going.
I will be adding something in to my exercise schedule if time permits over weekends/Mondays because I think I should be doing something more.
Good luck with your achieving your goals.

Got on the scale yesterday after not having weighed for a while and I am now sitting at 120lbs. Down 20lbs in total with another 10lbs to go.
What I am hoping is that I can keep this weight off all the time and continue to tone up and prevent parts from going south!
Keep the faith to those who are still trying to lose weight - it took you a whole lot of time to put on (in my case 6 years) so it will take a bit of time to lose.
Amy Eileen

I havent been losing, but I havent gained either so that is good. :) I survived the 5k, barely, but ran the whole thing. I joined taekwondo and the instructor is an 18yr old boy with a need to make people feel pain. I cant wait right today. lol Its all good though, will surely help tone me up!

I broke a toe so could not do water aerobics for 3 weeks. Had a week long business trip and ate too much and had dental surgery.
Did I gain any weight???
The resounding answer to that is
NO!!
Holding at 120 lbs and looking to lose another 10 lbs.
For those of you still going - keep the faith - you will lose what you want to over the course of time.
For those of you doing 5ks and other hard excercise things, you are doing so well. Wish I had the time!
Take care of all of you

to drop another 3 lbs over the last ten days. I think because I can't eat anything too substantial. I am going through some major dental surgery and eating is the last thing on my mind.
Only another 7 lbs to go!!
Managed to avoid halloween candy (Mr. Wonderful ate it all!!).
Keep the faith everyone.

I am back in the true loss column! Last week I lost 2, this week 1.8, I've lost 42.2 pounds this year!!!!
I had to buy a evening dress for my sister's birthday party in a month and I hope that it's not going to be too big by time of the party. Of course, I have to get through Thanksgiving first!
nittans
11-10-2009, 04:52 PM
you are doing great.
As far as the evening gown is concerned - start looking now but wait another two to three weeks to buy it. Alternatively, maybe you have somewhere near you where you can rent a gown for a night. I did that years ago when I had loads of formal things to attend and not enough $$ to buy three or four gowns.
The other alternative is maybe you have a second hand rose type store - we have a couple down here which cater towards the upmarket people and I have managed to find really high end worn once gowns at a fraction of normal retail.
Good luck in finding the perfect gown.

well the weight went back up to 120 lbs!!! Holding steady but I really would like to lose the extra 10 lbs by the end of this year.
Still doing water aerobics 3 times a week and trying to eat right and regularly but that is an uphill challenge. Most of the time I just pick.
Wishing all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Everyone is doing so well! :) I am still at 35lbs down but I know my body is stronger than it was. I have built up some muscle and endurance. Feels good. I bought my dress for new years at a second hand store this year for 10 dollars. :) Your classic little black dress.

LOL I think you should be where you are most comfortable, as long as your doctor says you are okay. ;) I gained 5lbs! So I did an hour's worth of power yoga this morning that I KNOW I will feel tomorrow. lol Its okay. I would pop in to see how everyone was doing and to wish you all a Merry Christmas.
Me - well still holding at around 118lbs so the total loss this year is 22 lbs. Still have about 8 lbs to go but will be adding in a cardio workout a couple times a week in January so that should take care of the 11lbs.
As far as eating all the huge amount of goodies I have made this year - I am just gently grazing and managing to only eat one or two small things at a time. Big meal for tonight and I know that I probably won't eat too much of that either.
Thank you for all your moral support during this year.

on the cold thing. I am in south florida and to me it is freezing - we had a hard frost last night! Anyway I too am going to the gym 3 times a week and still maintaining my 23lb loss. I am looking to lose another 10 or so and my water aerobics teacher said I should do at least one cardio workout a week as well so I have to find or make the time to do that.
Will let you all have progress report soon.
