How are YOU? :D I am doing FABULOUS!! I jumped on the scale and I am down 20lbs! Whoot whoot! I am so excited. I have often tried to lose weight in the past, I would get to lose around 15lbs or so and give up. I have never lost 20lbs before so I am very excited. I am off to see the doctor today to give him my progress.

Goals are IMPORTANT when losing weight. Today I reached what I consider to be a significant goal. Two actually. I break my goals into 10lb marks and plus I wanted to hit 20. lol

What are YOUR goals?

My first goal was 20 pounds, which I had hoped to hit before vacation. I didn't make it then, but I blew through it today!!!!! -5.2 pounds for a total of 23 since the first of the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And that was with 2 days of eating crap! Yesterday I actually packed my food so that I would have healthy choices since I was going to be gone all day!!!

Thats FANTASTIC! :) You know, slow is the WAY to go. That way you dont become overwhelmed and quit. I know from personal experience. lol

How much have you lost so far and in what time frame?

How many calories are you eating a day? What's your activity level? How much water are you drinking? Are you getting at least 5 servings of fruits/veggies every day? How about dairy - 2-3 servings?

And at 132, your loss may be slower since you don't have as much to lose. I know it sucks, but that's the way the body works. I have a lot more to lose, yet I'm trying to lose between 1-2 pounds per week, and even then I don't hit it.

I was at the gym last night for water aerobics and have lost another pound.

So right now I am at 131 lbs.

I have lost 9 lbs since end of January and have another 21 lbs to go! Diet and activity stuff is all good but I may have to go to the gym more often. Right now I am there every other day for cardio style working out with a bit of weight stuff and one or two times a week for water aerobics.

I drink gallons of water and eat loads of fruit and veggies and am probably eating 1000 calories a day.

Maybe I need to give up my once a week sushi too?

I'm thinking you actually need to up your calorie intake - that's way too low for the amount of activity you are say you are doing. I'm trying to convert that to approximate WW points, and I would say that you are probably 2-300 calories shy of the minimum you should be eating.

I know it sounds counter-intuitive. But if you go below a certain threshold, your body doesn't have enough fuel to maintain and your metabolism starts shutting down - that leads to your body hanging on to what it has. Go too low and you actually start burning muscle rather than fat.

Try upping your calorie uptake for a couple of weeks and see what happens. You didn't mention dairy - get some cheese, yogurt or milk in your diet. 2 glasses of milk a day would be another 200 calories. Are you getting some fat in your diet? Your body needs some healthy fat/oils to function properly. I'm putting together an article for Amy to post on the blog.

That is what I was thinking Maggie.

Does anyone watch The Biggest Loser? This same subject was on the show last night. Bob was amazed to find out that his team wasnt eating nearly enough to sustain a healthy body with all that activity.
