SPRING IS HERE!!!! (Okay, okay, I know that for most of the country you are all still in deep freeze, but here in Southern California the birds are singing....the flowers are blooming....the breeze is blowing!! Alright, I'll stop rubbing it in!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D )
For those that are lucky, like me, and are already able to celebrate the spring and for those that just want to imagine how lovely it will be when it finally gets here :p ;) :D ...........
Show us your SPRING AVATARS!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Yeah, but are your trees leafing out?!?!?!?!? The ash trees and willow trees around here are already leafed out. The maple tree and redbuds are in full bloom and the pear trees are starting to bloom.

You have redbuds??? I LOVE those trees!!! I've planted three of them over the years but they just don't do well here...the gophers got the first one, I'm not sure what happened to the second one and the third one was a victim of a skateboard accident (don't ask!! ;) :D :D )
But no, the trees are not leafing out just yet...my Jacarandas are always late bloomers and I think because of all the rain we got this year the mimosa is going to be late too. I am worried about my crepe myrtles; I think they may have gotten damaged from all the smoke from the fires last fall; I'm keeping an anxious eye out on them; just like a momma watching her babies grow!! ;) :D :D

Wow, I use to like you Debb. ;)
Today we actually had a spring-ish day. Last night we had an ice storm and everything was covered. This morning we awoke to the sound of birds chirping and the sun bursting through the window. :) It didnt last but it was great while it did. Every bit of ice is gone.
(I was a Daffodil in Girl Guides. :) Strange memory popped up when I saw the thread title and I had to share)

since this is the first winter/spring we have had in this new house, i am seeing all kinds of wonderful prizes! there are a few daffodills popping up and a few other 'bulb' plants who's flowers have yet to emerge! our peach trees, apricot tree and plum tree are all blossoming, so pretty, it is like popcorn popping!

The Canadian geese flew by this week! If they are going home, then spring is around the corner! It's been 60* here - unusual - and the birds have been greeting me as I leave to take Alannah to school in the morning. What a breathtaking way to start the day!
Of course I can't plant annuals until Memorial Day - 2.5 months away, but I can dream of my garden and my hammock!

It's interesting weather in Texas today. It was 68 in Dallas/Ft Worth Wednesday. As of this morning, parts of that area have gotten over 10" of snow. It didn't make it this far south which is a good thing since I'm flying to Atlanta this afternoon.

Yes our Japanese Tulip trees and all the azaleas are blooming, along with lots of other stuff that I don't know the name of cause I'm not much of a plant person :) HEHE! I'm thrilled as well :)

Debb, I really don't think there is anything you can do to kill an established crepe myrtle! I have never met a hardier tree. However, if you did indeed find a way to kill yours, I would be willing to send young shoots or seeds although I don't know that our varieties are the same as what grows there.

Tammy - same here - I have crepe myrtles springing up all over my yard.
And I did get to see daffodils blooming this weekend in my sister's yard - along with the camelias - they don't know they were supposed to be bloom in January - hmmmm, calendar challenged? And Kathy's tulip tree wasn't blooming but everyone else's was.
