I posted this on another board, but wanted to add it here too. Rachel, our 4 year old was hit by a car this afternoon. One minute I was holding her hand, the next, she was flying thru the air, landing in a snow bank by the curb! We were blessed w/no internal injuries or broken bones. She's home, but very scared and beat up looking! Everytime I close my eyes I replay the whole thing over in my head! Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers!

Oh Joann, what a traumatic experience! I'm so thankful that she did not receive serious injury, but I imagine the mental anguish and anxiety must be fierce right now. I am praying that the Lord will guard your heart and mind and ease the trauma of the memory and that your sweet little girl will quickly recover from the bruises, aches and pains she must be experiencing.
Blessings my friend!

wow - i guess they weren't kidding when they said, "when it rains, it pours." i am so sorry to hear about the struggles our friends joann and kara are going through, but the power of prayer is so strong...and your families are certainly being lifted up by a lot of your friends here. i will definitely be praying for joann's daughter and for kara's brother. i know many others will be too.

Here's an update of Rachel! We took her to the pediatrician to get a once over. The doctor has some concerns about her spleen. But just wants us to keep an eye on her (as if I've let her out of my sight).
I also talked to the Police Officier who witnessed the accident. He said I was holding her hand as we crossed the street and the car just missed me and hit Rachel! I couldn't peice everything together on my own and started thinking I must have let her run ahead of me and that's why it happened ( I do the self blame game alot!) So hearing that gave me a little peace!
So continue to pray and add a little prayer for the lady who hit her. I can't imagine the guilt she must be feeling!
Thanks to all!

Oh, JoAnn, it's so good to hear that Rachel is going to be OK. Even more, I totally understand about blaming yourself. You think about it long enough and your memory twists it all to make it your fault. I'm so glad that there was a Police officer there.
Take care of yourself and Rachel! Let us know how she's feeling today!

:::OUCH::: lol! I must be looking my age today, Lisa! Rachel is my dd, not dgd! Granted, I am old enough to be her grandma!
Another update! Rachel seems to be getting back to her old self today! She asked Grandpa when he was going home so she could play video games :p and we ventured out to the grocery store. I seemed more nervous than she did crossing the store parking lot! I'm going to keep her home from church tomorrow and hopefully send her back to preschool on Monday! I'm having a difficult time letting her out of my sight! Again, thanks for all of your prayers and thoughts!

It defineately is amazing how quickly kids bounce back ... but us "olde" folk stay shaken for what seems like forever!!! JoAnn I am so glad that neither her or you were more seriously injured...she is young enough to pretty much forget about it...but MOM I think you need extra hugs so here they are!!!

Anytime I hear about a little one getting hurt it just breaks my heart....I know what a scare you and Rachel must have had, but God kept his arms around her and protected her from serious bodily harm. What a blessing that was....may He continue to minister to you and Rachael and take away the anxiaty of living through this in your minds every day.....

I can feel the fear you felt when the accident happens, and the fear that still lingers in your heart and soul. So glad that Rachel has been protected, and pray that you will soon have a calm heart and reassured piece of mind.

She's doing great, Maggie! We sent her to school yesterday and she loved sharing her story. Now that the crisis has passed, I've deceided it's time for me to freak out! I've been pretty weepy, replaying everything in my head, but I know this is my process, and it will pass! Thanks for asking, and thanks again, to all, for the prayers!
