Today we went with a family from church to a Greek festival and ate baklava for dessert (we had eaten at home) and listened to authentic Greek music played by a very talented band. About 10 women got up and did a circular dance and I was thrilled! I'm German, so I don't know the name of the dance - but in German it would be like a slow polka.
Afterwards we toured the south shore coast, took a carousel ride and then had an ice cream cone. Back at our hosts' home, we ate burgers and then came home. We were gone for 7 hours!
Makes me think of the song, "That's what I love about Sundays."

Sounds like you had a blast! I love Greek food...yum yum! What I like about summer is the fireworks, which we went to see last night. Slept in late and missed church (bad me) but I think we needed some rest today. I have to admit Stacey, I am a winter girl. I'll be posting about how much I love winter in a couple months! LOL

Yeah, Prod and I are from NC - summer equals hot sticky humid yucky weather - my personal fav season is FALL! The smells and colors just inspire me - and I was a weird kid, I LIKED school, so fall meant getting back to it ... yeah, I was weird, wasn't I?

I'm weird too. In so many ways. Perhaps that's why I like you so much, Melanie! I like fall, but fall to me means WINTER is near . . . and I don't like winter.

LOL I've never visited NC or been in the south during the summer, so I'm totally speaking as a northerner here when I say that summer is awesome. It's been in the 70s and low 80s this week - - - just perfect for my new hammock!

Girlfriend, listen to me and Scrapmel! Summer just plain STINKS here!
The only place with worse humidity than eastern NC is Georgia. Whew! Me and hubby went there many years ago during memorial day and there was a code black out for the air quality...the air was literally difficult to breath. Heavy in your lungs, just gross.
But down here, we're a close second. I'm going to be in the house with the air set on 68 under a ceiling fan for the majority of the upcoming week. 99 Tuesday and Wednesday with a chance of storms means humidity and misery.
Hey scrapmel, what's your air set on? You staying inside the next couple of days too? :D  :p

They are calling for high 90s and humidity here in central VA too. I sit on my shade porch with a small fan while the boys spash in the pool or play with the hose. Whenthe humidity gets too much for me I announce that it is "Quiet time" and we all go inside to watch a movie. :)

Mid-Atlantic states are actually going to be hotter than the TX Gulf Coast the next few days - hard to believe, huh? But yeah, summer is not my favorite season - it's not even a distant 4th. Oh yeah - there are only 4 seasons - well, in TX - 3.5 - we don't even have a full winter to call a full season.
Spring is my favorite, followed by fall!

Stacey girl, you'll have to learn to like winter where you live now! My BIL lives near Boston, and many times they have snow by Halloween! Get ready! ;) :D I wouldn't mind. I love snow and I hate to be hot. I get reeeeeeeeeally grumpy when I'm hot and sweaty!

Prod, my air set at 76 (75 when hubby sneaks in and changes it) - since I lost weight, I am so cold anymore!
And yeah, Stacey, if my summers were 70 or 80, I would love them too! Gosh, that would be wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!! But here, if you walk out at 9 in the morning, you sweat. I have to crank my car and turn the air on at 7 BEFORE I put the kids in to take them to daycare. Too hot and muggy otherwise. Now, THAT is pitiful!

It's supposed to be 100 degrees in New England today, but because we are so close to the shore we won't have that temperature. Now, snow by Halloween, that's happened in Michigan and many times on my birthday on April 22 it has snowed in Michigan. I remember a SNOW DAY on my birthday one year! So I am sorta used to icky winter, although those 3 years in St. Louis without a big winter but with spring in early March has spoiled me.

I would LOVE to be close to the shore (except in hurricane season ;)) The beach is my absolute favorite place on earth. We're supposed to reach 96 today with high humidity. I just went outside to clean my windows (10 am) and was sweating my bum off until I got back into my nice cool air  :D

We had a great day too ! IT is extremely HUMID here...that is a whole different kind of hot. My cousin and uncle and their family picked a bunch of corn yesterday....my mom took home 100 ears to freeze.
After dinner my uncle cut up a watermelaon that had been on ice for two days. IT was so cool and sweet! YUM!

I love the summer and the heat! I try to soak up as much as I can to make it through the winter. It is going to be near 100 here in NJ. I just love sitting in my backyard. I love no coats or mittens or hats to put on (and then lose) just to go outside. My sons get so mad because I refuse to have AC in our house. I did break down and put in a room AC in my son's room but he can only use when heat is above 90 degrees. I am one mean mom.
But I do use fans. LOL.

The weather here is CRAZY! One day its like summer, the next like fall. Today was so cold that I wore a long sleeved knit sweater and a denim jacket to Connor's T-Ball game and I was STILL chilled. HOWEVER, yesterday it was so hot that the kids were out in the pool. We have a joke here in Cape Breton that if you dont like the weather wait five minutes. Lately thats been truer then we would like to admit.
For instance, yesterday here where I live it was hot and sunny, at the exact same time at Connor's Dad's place it was SPILLING with thunder, we live five minutes away from each other. We didnt get a drop of rain. lol

Today when I left Connecticut at 2 pm it was 101 degrees. When I pulled in the driveway at 5 pm here by the shore, it was 78. Now THAT my friends, is a reason for prayer! "THANK YOU GOD, THAT I LIVED NEAR THE SHORE!"

Well, the heat from the midwest came our way today and both Alannah and I are sick because of it. A nice rain would cool us off - and help my garden!
