I just wanted to say that I'm glad to see the site up. You should have seen me yesterday looking. I truly believe that this could become my new "home" for digiscrapping. The kits I have seen so far are amazing, and I know some of the folks running this are truly beautiful people - inside and out.

My question...if I post at *another* site...you know which one...their policy does not allow links to other sites. Is it okay if post and give credit with your names without a link? I looked at the TOU for Alpine Elegance, and it seemed to indicate that we needed to use a link. Of course, I didn't sleep at all last night and my brain is fried...so I just thought I'd clarify for sure before I do something I shouldn't! :D

Hello my sweet friend. Please feel free to post your layouts anywhere you would like. You are not required to include a link to our site. But we would ask that you make sure you credit the designers. In the case of the Guild kit you can say something like, "Alpine Elegance" Digital Scrapbook Artisan Guild's January kit, created by ....... Just be sure to be a 'good neighbor' and abide by each sites posting rules.

Hi Debb, I wondered where you had gone. I clicked on the FAQs but didn't see an answer, so I am still trying figure out exactly how this site works. Do you have to be a guild member to participate in the challenges, gallery, etc? and What does being a guild member entail? Those are my first 2 questions. You may have the answers posted somewhere, but I have been clicking links and haven't come across them yet. If you wouldn't mind helping me out or just pointing me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. I'm glad you are not lost after all. :)

It probably does all seem a bit confusing right now. Basically it works like this....we have "General Public" areas of the site and then we have "Member's Only" areas of the site. To add to the confusion.....for the first month we are extending member benefits to everyone who registers as a guest. We are doing this so everybody can get a sense of the types of things we will be offering to our members. At the end of February we will be 'moving' much of our forum offerings to the Member's only side of things; while still trying to keep enough things on the public side to keep it warm and inviting and a place that people want to come and belong.

There are many benefits to becoming a member of the guild, chief among them is the amazing kit our guild members will be receiving each month. You can get a sense of the quality of the design by using the Alpine Elegance kit which is our January kit and is available as a gift to everyone who registered as a guest to the site. In addition we have our Inaugural kit, Crazy Quilt Magic, which is available to the first 200 people who purchase a membership. Each month our designers are collaborating on some VERY SPECIAL kits. The March kit has already been completed and I'm just dying to tell everybody about it....but I can't spoil the surprise!! ;) :D

As a member you will also receive our monthly on-line magazine D-zine Inspirations. This publication will offer tutorials, insights into design by some of the industry 'leading lights' ideas to help jump-start your journaling, photography helps, hints and quick lessons.....I could go on and on, but then what would the purpose of the magazine be? ;) Members also have access to all areas of the site and have uploading privileges to the gallery. (Currently everyone who is a registered guest can upload to the gallery but at the end of the month everyone will be able to view the gallery but only members will be able to upload to it.) Each month, in the member's only areas of the site, we will be offering guild members many, many different things to help them grow in their digital scrapping skills...tutorials, inspirational ideas, program helps and all types of challenges that focus on helping each other grow in this craft that we all enjoy so much.

We will also be sponsoring semi-annual juried competitions. These competitions will be open to guild members only. These competitions will be judged by trained judges who will be following specific judging criteria and will be giving each contestant a scorecard at the end of the competition so that the competition becomes not just a contest of 'who is the best' but is also a learning tool for us all to learn how to become the best scrappers we can be.

You can find much, much more information by clicking on our "About" links, but in a nutshell what the guild is all about is being a place that you can come to learn and be inspired as you pursue the craft of digital scrap-booking...and to do it in an environment filled with fun, friendship and encouragement.

Blessings

Debb - is there going to be February kit, or is the Alpine Elegance for both January and February since January was a half month? Of course, I'm still using the Alpine Elegance a lot - it goes so well with my December vacation photos.

Yes Maggie since we didn't go live until the middle of January the Alpine Elegance kit is for both Feb. and March. Of course everybody that has signed up so far has also received the Crazy Quilt kit. And you just never know there may be some other surprises along the way for all of our members! ;) :D

I saw the classes offered for titles are all for photoshop. I use DIP. What options would I have if I decided to become a full member vs. a guest and wanted to proceed with the classes for a title?

Debb Cozzi
02-05-2007, 07:31 PM
Right now our program classes are geared toward Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro.

However we do have plans to be continually expanding our class offerings and if there is enough interest in DIP we will certainly add that to the mix. I also want to say that ALL of our design and style classes are generic in nature and can be taken utilizing ANY photo editing program. We don't want to leave anyone out of the mix, regardless of what program they use.

We will keep you updated as new classes are added.

I haven't really had much trouble finding my own gallery. I use the link that Tiffany mentions above. What I have trouble with is finding others' galleries. When I click on their name or go to their profile, I'm not finding a link to their gallery. I know I can go to the members area and find a specific user's gallery, but it would be nice to be able to just click from a forum posting and get to it. Am I missing something?

The forum and the gallery software programs do not have that capacity, LaDonna. Perhaps future upgrades will allow us to do that!

Hi Mandy,

Welcome to the guild! The links to the D-zine and to the Apine kit can be found here:

http://www.digitalscrapbookartisanguild.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=9

Each month we will post new links for both the D-zine and the monthly kit in the Member's Only section of the forum. Just give a shout out if you ever have a problem.

The links for the inaugural crazy quilt kit will be emailed to you.

Welcome again, we are so excited to have you be a member!!

ok here is a random question - or a few - but those of you who know me at all won't be surprised by my randomness! LOL! is there a way to know if 200 people have signed up as members yet? i know we already talked about how some of us who are trying out for the CT didn't have the money to spend and wanted to wait to become a member until after we knew if we needed to pay or not. the actual question is about the crazy quilt freebie that new members get. i think i read somewhere that the special for that is only good until the end of Feb or 200 members. if we wait until the announcement of the new CT to become a member, will the crazy quilt still be available? (either as a freebie or a purchase?) did any of this make sense? i hope so. if not - i am sorry for the minute you will never get back because of my silly questions - LOL! thanks!

again, i think this site is AMAZING! i am especially impressed with how quickly people are getting their questions answered. you all have done an excellent job of making everyone feel like they are an important part of the community....and that means a lot to us! :) hugs!

I haven't found a way to get an "official" count, but if you look at the Members List at the top of the forums, it says there are 257 registered members. But when you browse through the list, it looks like the majority are still Registered Guests.

Here's a Shoppe question:

Is there a way to buy gift certificates? People like to get me gcs from time-to-time and I would love to have them get them here. :) I'd also like to be able to send them to friends/family as well.

Debb Cozzi
02-21-2007, 11:32 PM
That wind you feel blowing is my big deep sigh!!! The answer to gift certificates is.....not yet. The shopping cart program we opted to go with (because it allowed us to 'package' our featured products and gift with purchase things) unfortunately had other limitations. Gift certificates is one of them. They are working on it however I we hope to have them available by summer. I'm so sorry for the temporary inconvenience and thank you in advance for your patience.

Hi my friend, I'm so happy you are finding a warm and encouraging community...the artistic team here are just amazing, not only are they unbelievably talented they also care very much for our members and have the most wonderful sense of being part of a special team. I'm so glad you are getting to know them all and have experienced their warm welcome.

The crazy quilt kit will be available for the first 200 members who purchase a membership and then it will be retired....we want to keep this a very special value for those first people who become a guild member. I don't want to keep a running count in this thread, but what I will do for you is give you a heads up when there are less that 40 memberships left....is that fair? I will also throw out this little teaser....I have seen the March kit.....it is AMAZING!! Hey, Wendy! I think Debb answered this on another thread but what she said is that since the site didn't open until Mid-January, Alpine Elegance is the kit for both January and February.
