unsaved shopping cart?

just noticed that items kept in the shopping cart is not automatically saved, that when the page is inactive for even 5mins, i think, it'll go back to zero. if only we could do something about it? i tend to buy by limit like 30-40dollars worth but i couldn't do it here because of that problem. hope there's a solution for that one...:(
