I am absolutely shocked!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got a phone call....our school was built in the late 60s early 70s and has not been updated at all since then (everyone says its because its the red-headed stepchild...the 2nd high school..blah blah...but I've only been here 3 years, so I don't know). Well, this summer they decided to finally do some renovations...and have found that there's an AWFUL mold problem. So bad that they are trying to get emergency action taken, and get the buildings all rebuilt (and remember, this is a large campus...2000 students). So....they are delaying the start of school from July 30th or whatever that Monday is, to September 4!!!!!!! Which is exciting for me...because I just need this time. However...I also HIGHLY value my 2 week breaks that come at the end of every quarter, and they're probably going to take those away...*sigh*....

And then a little thought crept in...maybe that's why I've been feeling so off, and its not just missing Joey. I mean, my therapist tells me that its not depression, but everyone else thought differently. I've still been going to campus all of the time to work, so I wouldn't know...but now we're not allowed to....oh wouldn't it be nice if this was the reason, and now its getting fixed????

The mold may have been making you feel bad. And I had to look twice when you said school started July 30. Then you said quarters and I understand now. Enjoy the extra month!!!

Kara honey, I sure hope that is the cause of your feeling off...I'm also mindful of how the hurt of losing someone never truly goes away.....when the hurt is deep and the missing seems like it will never end please know that I care for you and daily I am praying that days of great joy and blessing are just around the corner for you my friend.

You know I just watched a show where this guy died after dealing with the mold in his basement. Its not something to mess around with. So yes it could be why your not feeling all that well.

Its wonderful to hear they are going to fix it finally. Just think though you get some extra time to do whatever you want. Just relax and enjoy it.

Thank you Debb...you are very right that the pain of losing someone never fully goes away. I do still have to deal with that as well, and I definitely covet your prayers. You all have been wonderful friends to me! However, I have been struggling with being tired, run down...generally not having energy to do anything outside of work...so people assumed it was depression. My therapist was the only one who thought I was dealing with my grief well, and it wasn't depression. So I hope this is it so I quit hearing the "are you going to therapy?" questions all the time. *lol* :)

Maggie...yeah, we're on a different schedule than the rest of the world. We start end of July and get out beginning of June. However, we do get a 2 week break in October, 2 weeks at Christmas, and 2 weeks in March....the end of every quarter. :) I LOVE it. and I will be so sad when October comes around and I can't take off to Tahoe or Kansas or something...

Oh my goodness, Kara! I truly hope you've found the source of your blahs. I know that mold problems can be serious so I hope there's no future impact to you or the students and other staff! You're in my prayers!

*fingers crossed too* Hope this is the source of your ill feelings Kara. I cannot even begin to imagine what you went through/are going through with the loss of your sweet Joey but I also think of you often. :)

Kara, I truely hope that by being away from the mould that you will see an improvement in your health. Its been a tough couple years no wonder your a bit run down... but knowing what the problem is a great way to solving it....
I hope that the school is making sure they offer some testing to ensure the health of all the students and staff....
