Gallery Showcase: Everyday Friends by Ellasspace
We spotted this wonderful layout in the gallery today and were struck by the exceptional attention to design details:
There are several things that stood out about this layout. First, the idea of vertical lines is reinforced in several different ways; the vertical stripes of the background, the vertical crop of the photo and the vertical placement of the elements give the layout a lot of visual impact. To keep the composition from becoming too static the photo and vertical line of elements is off-set to the left just a bit, rather than being centered in the middle of the layout. The black and white photo is a great contrast to all of the color in this layout. That contrast centers the viewers eye on the photo and keeps the photo from being overwhelmed by all the fun color and pattern that is part of this wonderful, visual treat. There is one other thing we love about this layout which is the way the crop of the photo enhances the fun mood of the photo; it adds an even higher level of fun and humor than would otherwise have been achieved with a more conventional crop. Paying attention to these type of details is what adds to the “professional polish” of a layout and makes it memorable. Thank you for sharing your inspiration with us Ellasspace!
